We get a box of grassfed, local meat from a ranch here in Texas.
We don’t really like liver so when we got a pound of liver one month, we were none too enthused. Luckily, we have a plethora of animals (namely two dogs) that love homemade treats! So we used our liver for good. Here’s the recipe so you too can create these delicious treats:
1 pound of liver
3.5 cups of self-rising flour
3 eggs
3/4 cups water
Place the liver in a food processor or blender to pulverize it so that it’s a smooth consistency. Mix in water, eggs, and flour to liver. Place in parchment paper lined 9×9 pan. Bake at 200 degrees for about 1 hour. When it’s done, it will be a brownie/cake like consistency. You can then use cookie cutters to cut out shapes, or just cut into squares.
These treats freeze super well, so you can double the recipe and keep them in the freezer. Our dogs love them thawed or frozen!
