Northern Virginia (NOVA) offers a lot of food choices. You can find cuisine from all over the world here, and indeed if you are a foodie, this is a great place to live. But, it is sometimes difficult to find fresh food for a decent price. I love salad bars. Coming from the DFW area in Texas, I could always find a Jason’s Deli nearby. However, up here in NOVA, the closest one is in Fairfax.
When I was in school here in NOVA, I would bring my schoolwork to Jason’s and sit for hours. I have definitely taken advantage of Jason’s Deli’s casual atmosphere and fresh, healthy food on more than one occasion. Because they are more rare in this part of the country, I find that I’m willing to drive to Fairfax even though it is a little out of the way for me just to feast on their plentiful salad bar.
They also have other menu options, some healthy and some less so. And, they have a fantastic strawberry shortcake if you feel like indulging yourself. You can discover their nutrition information on their website here. You can also see if you happen to be lucky enough to live near one of these gems.
The Fairfax Jason’s Deli is right off of route 7 near 495 and Tyson’s Corner. It is located in the same parking lot as a Whole Foods Market, so if you want to lunch and then shop for healthy groceries, this is a great place to do it. Jason’s is usually pretty busy at lunch time and at dinner, too. The best time to come is just after the lunch rush. You can have some peace and quiet and a better choice of where to sit. There is plenty of parking (which can be rare in NOVA) and the staff is friendly.
I was so excited about blogging about my last visit to Jason’s Deli that I actually took some pictures of my last visit. Visit if you can, you won’t be disappointed.
